phenomenal women book tour billboardOvercoming Adversity, Teenage Motherhood and Marginalization among Key Topics to Take Center Stage during Newly Announced Multi-City Book Tour
The Phenomenal Female Authors National Book Tour kicks off on July 18, featuring five dynamic authors and bringing a wide range of women and minority issues to the forefront. In their books, the authors tackle abuse, poverty, grief, teenage motherhood, marginalization and more. Their stories of adversity and triumph provide hope and inspiration for both women and men seeking light during some of life’s darkest moments.
The book tour will stop in London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester. It will feature authors Ava Brown, Jenice Revers, Amanda Epe, Debbie Martin-Garcia and Norma Gregory.
Ava Brown is a transformational speaker, actress, life coach and the author of “Bamboo & Fern.” Her story starts in a poor rural area, where the need to find food often won out over school attendance. The book follows her triumph over incest, sexual abuse and violence, and illustrates how her resilience allowed her to leverage harsh and disappointing experiences as stepping-stones to become a strong and self-reliant woman capable of breaking the cycle of poverty and its effects. Today Ava uses her story to empower others by making them understand the word IMPOSSIBLE means I’M POSSIBLE.
Jenice Revers is a speaker, two-time author and coach who uses her life stories as a vehicle to inspire women globally to reclaim their self-worth. Her newest book, “Damn It, I’m Worthy,” is a detailed account of how she overcame sexual abuse, significant loss suffered as a child, multiple marriages and broken relationships and later found the strength to embark on a journey of self-healing and self-love.
Amanda Epe is an award winning author and coach who uses literature to empower girls and women. Her book, “A Fly Girl,” was pre-launched with a reading at the House of Parliament’s gender conference celebrating women in January 2015. “A Fly Girl” has earned Epe awards and recognition from the One Big Book Launch at Free Word Centre and Woman4Africa.
Debbie Martin-Garcia is a speaker and One Harmony Radio presenter with degrees in life coaching and counseling. She specialises in empowering women to reconnect with their inner selves and regain their independence to live a fulfilled life after domestic abuse. She is also the co-author of “The Journey of a Teenage Mother,” a captivating collection of stories from thirteen women from the United States, who have endured and persevered through teenage pregnancy. The stories offer encouragement and hope for any reader facing difficult life circumstances.
Norma Gregory is a photojournalist, media producer and historian of the African Diaspora in Britain. She is best known for her pioneering work to erect the first blue heritage plaque for a person of colour in Nottingham. Her book, “Jamaicans in Nottingham,” is a unique collection of personal and reflective interviews and articles that present narratives of life in Nottingham, featuring individuals of Jamaican heritage who have contributed to the spirit and life of the city and its surrounding areas from the 1940s to the present day.
“The book tour is a unique opportunity to not only support the work of emerging authors, but to hear powerful speakers and be inspired by their stories, and their incredible journeys,” said Ava Brown, author and organiser. “The tour is a celebration of our work and our sheer determination to be victorious over anything that would prevent us from realizing our true purpose and calling.”
The Phenomenal Female Authors National Book Tour launches on Saturday, July 18 at the Stephen Lawrence Center in London. The free event will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and include light refreshments and drinks.
